Just be careful about mechanical intervention in an electronic world. Test on the backgrounds before going out in public :)

I decided to purchase an e46 pedal pot and wire it up that way. Thanks Robertk for the advice. I will come up with a creative solution for adapting the cruise with the e46 setup.

If you do, whatever you do, don't disconnect the linkage. Resyncing those itbs are a bitch.

Wow it's coming along quite nicely actually! Keep it up!
It's good to see people doing it and documenting this swap finally!
Can't wait to see the finished product!

Kudos! S62 swaps are no joke.

    Updates 6/22

So I finished the throttle cable - yet to finalize the welds and paint it all up.

I did a pull test on the crimp. It takes only 9-10lbs of force to pull the potentiometer. The crimp held way more than that. I got tired from pulling so much, in fact. I want to strengthen it by soldering it or brazing.

I also put the transmission back on the S62, ready for re-installation for things like oil filter bracket, headers, and final electrical.

check out the cruise control setup that I'm implementing. This way of doing the installation, I can keep the existing cruise control system while adhering to the fly-by-wire system for the pedal pot.

Also, I have the oil temp sensor (left) and coolant temp sender (right), and the corresponding aluminum bungs for custom welding into their correct location.

The Oil Temp Sensor is M12x1.5 and the Coolant Temp Sender is M14x1.5

The goal here is to keep this car looking and acting like a stock car completely. I think I'm achieving that objective.

For future reference the E46 pedal is a perfectly viable alternative and much easier to install.

Instead of using the E39 potentiometer have you considered using a pedal from an E46? Would be a lot easier to mount up.

    Nope, time sert kit includes

Drill, tap, driver, counter bore and the inserts. You may already have the drill, the tap, but likely would not have the appropriate driver nor counter bore.

The good thing about time sert kits is that you can sell them for nearly the same price you buy them for minus one insert after you are done.
