Frank Macaluso's E30S62 Swap Thread

You must read through the entire swap write up carefully. I'm using the lightweight flywheel kit from uuc. It's is originally equipped for the s62, but I used it for my m60 swap at the time. With that being said, the flywheel had the teeth necessary for crank position. Now that I am doing s62, the flywheel is compatible and works in this application. As you can see, I modified the transmission to accompany the crank sensor.

Now according to your logic and having proven you on your one comment, my swap is perfect!!

I guess I'll open a thread on the swap once completed, as there isn't that much info on s62 swaps out there.

As much as I want to be done in 2 weeks, I don't see it happening. I think mid late August it's more realistic. The exhaust headers will be very challenging since in using the 4-2-1 style headers instead for better flow and upgrading to dual 2.5"tube.

Either way, I will post updates soon. All of my recent work had been wiring related, so it's been boring. Here are a couple pics of the harness I've been constructing and testing thoroughly...

So I got the pre tapped m12x1.5(oil temp) and m14x1.5(coolant temp) sensors from a junked e30 tstat housing, finished and cleaned them, then sent them off to a machinist to have the bungs welded to the parts.

It's aluminum and I can't tig.

Once you've finished this S62, I think I might have to convince you to do an S65 next!
