ugh m62tu can go to hell.....it's not the block itself, but its all the other shit all over it...starting with water cooled alt, and finishing with vanos and extra sensors as mentioned above.

and timing that bitch, what a pain, even with the right tools. vs m60 or m62b44 non vanos.

Yeah, if a mod could fix the title it would be appreciated. NEVERMIND I found it in the advanced settings.

I originally bought a 2000+ 540i, but that was parted out. I am using a 1998 now so it is the M62B44.

For the brake part of this can you use the E30 booster? I see most people use the E34. If not the E30 how about the E39?

            No.

Have to use the e34 v8 setup behind the headlight (ugly) or go boosterless with the Wilwood/Tilton setup under the dash.

Wilwood setup is $$$, but well worth it IMO. Both are about the same amount of work, especially in an airbag car (have to swap steering column for Wilwood).

Why does the E34 work, but not the E30 or E39?

                No room.

The v8 is way wider so the brake booster no longer fits onto the firewall. With the e34 set up it is relocated forward and out of the way.

Ahhh I just looked up the E34 - it is stock that way.

I was thinking you could turn around the E30 or E39 and accomplish the same thing.

On your driveshaft question: We make our 6 speed driveshaft front piece is 20.5", back half is stock with our mounts.

                        E34 530/540i -> brakes

But really you're better off buying the setup from someone parting a car. It's not just the booster. There's a lot more to it.

....or just go with the Wilwood setup.

I guess I am failing to see why I can't just turn around the E30 booster and mount it with brackets. If I can make it fit and it worked on the car before why won't it work now?

I am out looking for a E34 V8 one I can part. I take it I need the booster, reservoir, bracket, and as many lines as I can get?

I don't understand what you mean by "turn around the E30 booster"?

You need the bracket and whole linkage system from the E34. I used the E34 bracket and linkage, but modified the bracket to use my original booster and MC.(From my E3) Is that what you mean?

Just keep it simple and use the e34 stuff. Everything. Brackets, linkage, booster, master cyl, reservoir.

You're car has an airbag, so the Wilwood stuff would require swapping of the entire steering column for a non-airbag unit. That's what I'm doing. I don't like the e34 setup.

I have seen people use the E34 setup, but the E30 is mounted to the firewall with the piston facing the wrong way for this (I thought). To have the piston facing the rear of the car so the linkage presses it I thought I would need to turn it around.

I have a welder so I am pretty set on not using the wilwood setup. If anyone has a link to E34 stuff for sale please link it.
