    Do it cause you can...

But most of all, Do it cause of that fucking feeling you get when you start it for the first time with open headers and all the neighbors look around like "WTF" :p
trust me i want to do it so bad... i have been researching and reading build threads for a while now. i cant wait to buy the swap guide and read through it.

the main point of this thread i guess was to talk me out of turboing my m20 and to get a better view on the two options.

for me at the point i am in my life the m60 i feel is the best option, for cost mostly. m60- 200$ motor from what iv read, ls1-7-1500$-5000$ motor from what iv seen personally.

btw not looking for some insane numbers id just like some get up and go when i put the pedal down.

The m60 can be a $200 motor, if you pull it from the junkyard and drop it right into your e30. But if you plan on wanting to drive it a good bit it's smart to do a lot of maintenance and seals with it out of a car.

With the engine out there are lots of parts to replace for maintenance. Parts aren't cheap. I have $1500 in parts so far for the engine and I did not pull the heads. Head gaskets would be another $300 and then you need head bolts.

+1. people who toss junkyard engines in their cars and actually have something that lasts are just lucky.

If you really want a v8, but aren't looking to spend a ton of money, look into the GM 5.3's. They're pretty much LS's and can be had for cheap, depends on where you buy em. With a cam and supporting fuel you'll be putting down 400 wheel.

I did my m60 swap for a few reasons..it sounds awesome, it looks awesome and is reliable. Sometimes i wish i did an LS and i probably will in the future. My car is a daily driver and im content with the power for now though. Yes its a lot of work but i learned a lot from it and had fun doing it

                  i have a vert, i bought an m60 with a 6 speed.
I know i will regret not doing a m52 turbo, and maybe i will do that in a coupe?
but im doing the m60 to have a summer cruiser with the roof off and a very fun car to drive.
With that being said, the m60 is a lot of $$$ if you want to make it a swap that will be reliable.
there is a lot of things that have to be custom or bought as in headers, driveshaft, clutch, trans, motor arms, etc.. thats where the price goes up steep.

Make sure you do it because you want to or else you will regret it.. money vs. outcome wise

Apparently mishimoto changed something so now it does work wth the e30? Justin couldn't get one of the hoses on or something. But now it's getting cold in Raleigh so it does fine. I shouldn't have to worry about it until spring

At the end of the day, do what you really want!

I think I'd LS because with a cam, heads, exhaust you can push 450hp. And they sound awesome.
