LS swap oil pan dimensions?

    Garret, I just got my GTO pan in and the oil filter line in the pan touches one of the main journal studs. is that an issue you encountered? I'm not seeing anything about it inyour PDF. I'm thinking it could just be that mine is from a 6.0. Wanted to see if you had this issue before I try to mod it, thanks

      It's been a while since I've updated this post and I said I would post dimensions of the Canton pan I purchased. Well, I was cruising Canton's website and I discovered that they have now posted their dimensions on their site.

      So for now, here is my oil pan setup - I haven't received the engine back from machine shop yet so I haven't test fit anything.



      I ordered the Canton 15-276 pan with GM 12572654 pick up.

          Haven't got that far yet.

          Thinking a remote set up but once i get the block installed i will see how much room i have.

            So the guys that are running the modified GTO pan are you still using the GTO dipstick?

              Something else I am rather proud of - The Gen III GM engines have limited options for timing chain dampeners. So, I designed my own and had several made.

                you have more info on those dampeners? just picked up an LS1 last week for my e30.

                        Here is my engine with the pan installed.



                        One thing to note: the pan is thinner than the original cast aluminum and therefore will require the stud kit or shorter bolts.... I didn't find out until I started torquing the bolts down and they bottomed out.


                        The stud kit was $12 bucks



                        I went ahead and picked up the remote filter adapter as well. I still need to get the filter mount and hoses but will figure that out once I get the engine in the car.

                            i have the garagistic/canton pan as well, just remember you're gonna need to also buy oil relocation lines and fittings.

                              Yea, that's why I bought the adapter. I'll also be running a cooler and it'll make it easy to plumb all in line.
