    NVH increase with LSx swap?

How much would you say the NVH from the engine/transmission increased with your LSx swap?

    What the heck is NVH?

Noise, Vibration, Harshness. Is your car a Serta Mattress, or a washing machine with a cinder block in it?

OP, I'd assume since LSx's came in a wide range of nice comfy OEM vehicles, that it could be as pleasant as you want it to be, just chose the appropriate mounts.

Oh, I thought it was some emission thing.

Yes, input regarding mounts used would be greatly appreciated!

We used rubber mounts: E34-540 engine mounts, and a standard GM rubber mount for the transmission. No problems, smooth idle, etc. Use of polyurethane mounts would make it an uncomfortable daily driver, which we would advise against.

Did you consider the oem Corvette mounts?

I have the sikky kit. The vibrations are minimal and actually better than my S52 turbo was. The noise is definitely there. I think the engine is just loud. It's not that the sound travels through the mounts. The motor is just louder than other factory motors. I also have my hood spaced up and not much for sound deadening to my firewall. But why wouldn't you want that? lol.

I was actually surprised at how nice the NHV was with this motor.

                Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

Kristov, I replied to your PM about this. As others have stated, using OE mounts would be the best way to keep things smooth and quiet. I'm using factory GTO motor mounts and transmission mount.

Any pictures of the GTO motor mounts?

Do you still think the Corvette mounts are better (as stated in the manual)?

And would they be a direct swap without the need for altering someting (because of height)?

On my e34 with the m60, I have the Revshift 95A poly mounts. While I haven't daily driven it yet, I highly doubt it will be unbearable when I do drive it full time next month. Really, they are V8s and they are supposed to give the car a little rumble. I would imagine NVH with an LS1 would be about the same if you used stock mounts. If you used poly, it would be a bit harsher, but it is really nothing to worry about.

Update: After three days of commuting in the car with the Revshift 95A mounts, the NVH is barely noticible and I would say unobtrusive. The only place you feel it is at idle. The car rocks a bit when you gas it at a light, but that's it.

Little late, but my truck with LS swap and poly engine and trans mounts (pfadt racing) is smooth and easy to drive. Most of my NVH is noise from the wind!

Another thing to keep in mind is what cam you decide to go with. If it's a taller cam, expect a little bit more vibration due to the lope. If your looking for a little smoother ride, keep the stock cam, they idle very nice. (I have an LS1 Camaro with a stock cam)
