My car has been sitting for about a month or so and took it out for a test drive after doing a brake job today. Noticed a strong fuel smell from the driver's side of the car after putting back into the garage, right around the fuel filter area. Also noticed these fuel stains around there (I believe it's on the tank) as well.
Where is this fuel leak coming from?

looks like you have a late model. i would check the fuel level sending unit o-ring, under the back seat, on the LH (driver side) of the car. pretty common place for them to leak.'70 911s | '72 2002 | '88 M5 | '89 330is | '89 M3 | '95 911 | '02 M5 | '04 RR HSE

Check the rubber lines and clamps. Also use better clamps that don't dig into the lines."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

x2. Since the leak appears to be on both sides of the tank, it's kind of a give-away that it's coming from the very top with the only opening being the level sensor up there (not fuel line terminations there, they are all terminated at the passengers side)Comment
