Power steering pump drain nut size?

I have successfully rounded the power steering drain nut! I can’t find it on realoem. What is the size of it so I can buy it at my local hardware store?

don't know the size off the top of my head, but that bolt looks stripped. and you may have to hammer a standard allen in it to get it out

Yeah that's the plan with some heat as well, but this is my daily and I'll need to drive the car to the hardware store to get the bolt before taking it out.

unfortunally unless someone takes one out of theirs it'll be hard to figure out due to it being part of the pump itself and not a "bmw" part

Do you really need to get this bolt out?

If you're trying to change the fluid, just loosen the banjo bolts. All the oil will come out and you won't have to mess with this stripped bolt.

I already changed the fluid that way. Just wanted to get it out so if I want to change the fluid in the future it’s easier and less messy than tanking a banjo bolt out, plus I don’t have to buy new washers for the banjo bolts.

Don't take the bolt all the way out. Just loosen it and the oil will drain out. When you tighten it back up, there is a very good chance that it will NOT leak. (in fact, I've never had one that did leak using this method)

...that doesn't look like a drain to me. More like the end of a pressure regulator...

now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves
