silver ring around the bearing cap and in front of the 323i rotor

So I take off the wheel on my 323i 1985 and there is this silver ring that holds the rotor on. Can't get my hartge wheels on the axle or rotor. I tried to back it off, but it is made of some very soft material and will only dent and not move. Has anyone else seen this. I have had 2 other 323i 1985 bmws and I have never seen this ring.

Hub centric ring? Should be easy to replace from ebay.

well, thanks, forgot about the hub rings. The ones I have used always came off very easy. hope this one comes off:).
