I just pulled the 318is out of summer storage (no joke - it's been hot as balls here and the AC doesn't work) and had a strange fuel leak. I fired the car up at the garage where it was stored and let it idle for about 5 minutes before backing out. When I backed out, I found a large puddle of fuel near the right rear wheel. A quick look under the car and I thought I could see fuel dripping off the subframe. The garage is only a mile from my house, so I drove it home and parked it.
I let it sit for a couple hours, then put it it up on jackstands and pulled the right rear wheel, idled the car for about 10 minutes and nothing. I looked everywhere down there and while I can still smell fuel, I see no drips from the filler neck, the tank itself, the breather lines in the wheel well, or even the rubber hoses over by the fuel filter. No fuel collecting on the subframe either, nothing on the ground.
Is there any reason why parking the car for 3 months would cause it to leak fuel? The tank is only about 1/2 full, so it's not like it was overfilled or anything like that. Anywhere else I should be checking? The leak was definitely at the rear, so I'm not too worried about anything in the engine bay.
