    BMW Spare key is wrong?

I had to go to my local BMW dealer to get a spare key made (I did not receive one when I bought my car, and I kept locking my key in my car). Well, it happened again last night. I like to use the inside locks because my central locking does not work (going to fix that now) and the deadlock is kinda iffy, sometimes the key gets stuck and it will not unlock. Well no biggie this time because I had a spare made FROM BMW themselves. Key does not work. Whatever I have Triple A with free locksmithing. When I got my key back, the two are completely different from each other. I dont believe my locks have been changed as I have the original key, but how could BMW cut me the wrong key if they go based off VIN number?

I ordered a key from BMW and they copied my car title. The new key works.

How do you know that you have the original key? Did you buy the car new?

BMW sold a spare lock and key set for the whole car not long ago.

A previous owner swapped the locks. Or BMW gave you the wrong key. The first option is the most likely. Does the new key work anywhere else on the car? Like the trunk, passenger side or glovebox?

id be surprised if BMW cut the wrong key, but mistakes happen. id bet your locks and all were changed.
