1988 325 "super eta" - I can see an unattached 5/8" hose that is disconnected. It is at the back of the engine bay on the drivers side. Close to the engine block and near the heater core hoses. But other end seems to feed into the firewall near where the starter is. There is a loose hose clamp that has slid down it and was clearly attached to the loose end. But I cannot find where this should go. Nothing leaking out of it, and there does seem to be some dried up, yellowish gunk in it. Any ideas?

I do not appear to have the recall added thermostat setup. This issue has me learning about that. There seems to be a good chance it is related to that. I'm just not sure where the other end of it is going to, unless that end isn't hooked up either. I've got some hose chasing to do ...Comment

it was clamped at that end, there really is nothing else that would need one there.I do not appear to have the recall added thermostat setup. This issue has me learning about that. 82eye is correct. I do have the extra recall thermostat after all. But the bypass is not connected to the return line. The jumble of hoses really is crammed in there! So I now I have to decide if I leave it as is, properly tee into the return line, or properly revert back to pre-recall configuration…Comment

aw crap. it isn't too terribly hard to delete with some patience. i ditched mine. it's actually reverting back to what most e30 hose diagrams are.82eye is correct. edit: you might need to buy a hose. the early aux therms were dealer install, the original hoses were cut from a standard set by hand to do it.
