I'm pulling the motor on the 91 in a week or 2 and am wondering if the motor and trans can easily come out together as a whole or if it's worth it to seperate them first.
I pulled my m20 as a whole no prob, remove the shift linkage from tranny. I didnt have the AC in mine not sure if the ac condenser will get in the way. (easier if you take PS pump and bracket off too)
Yea forgot about removing the hood. i assumed you would ull the radiator first as well... seperating can be a pain as the tranny torx bolts can be a real pain to get to....and break free...
If you have a good Load leveler, the Engine and tranny can be pulled as one unit. in the 5-6 I've pulled, I've seperated 4 times, cut out the front core support and pulled the engine and tranny straight out, and pulled the Engine and tranny out together then normal way.
Well I'm thinking I will try for pulling them together, I have no problem with removing the hood or radiator from the car. We'll see, but I'm glad to know it's not impossible.

I just put a rebuilt m20b25 in my car. I unbolted the trans from the block which was pretty easy. The hard part was realigning the clutch/flywheel with the trans and getting it to slide into it.
Do it together - those tranny bolts are a bitch - hood bolts and radiator support are so easy to remove. Plus you have a lot more room to work with the hood off.
