Trailing arms and rear axle carrier questions

So I just ordered new rear subframe mount/bushings (same as rear axle carrier bushings right?) and trailing arm bushings due to a VIOLENT clunking noise when my rear suspension feels a bump or any acceleration. I can't find anything on replacing the subframe mounts in the Bentley manual...they don't really go over it. I was going tohold off ont he trailing arm bushings until later on due to the complexity and tools necessary to replace them. Do I have to remove the trailing arms and thus the brake lines and rear axles in order to replace the rear subframe mounts?

    Anyone know?

Yes. Good luck getting the subframe mounts out without a special tool, or a torch.

I did my subframe bushings with a torch and a 6" gear puller from Harbor Freight, and a BFH. It wasn't hard.

Well, I'm not doing it alone, I was just wondering if I should ask my godfather to replace my trailing arm bushings since they'll already be off....sounds like it would be a good idea.

yeah, you'd be saving yourself labor down the road.

I made a tool for my subframe bushings. my torch was too weak to melt them and I had a welder and scrap metal available.. made easy work of it, only a couple minutes to pop them out and the poly bushings slid right in.

yah....maybe for you. I don't think I'm going to attempt removing all of the necessary parts with just a jack and two stands. it would be a very uncomfortable and long day.

I did mine alone and 2 jackstands are all you really need.
