Including the S38? Can you point me to any info on this?Originally posted by M-technik-3All the above have been done. A built 2.0 M10 or a S14 would be nice. M42 or M44 why not modern engine with good parts backing still available from factory. Sorta like the factory M2.
This completely random guy. I just stumbled into it.Originally posted by rs4pro3Where did he find an S38 for a Grand?
I'm no longer concerned with it fitting without modification, I'm looking into going with a mid-front engine setup (even out the weight distribution AND allow me to use the S38).
Does anyone know what my options are for the transmission? I'm new to 2002's, it has the stock 4 speed. Is there any compatibility here?
Thanks for all the help

There is a long legend behind that car. The S38 was put into the 2002 by Korman, and the car was beautiful. The guy was a test pilot for Lockheed Martin and actually passed away i believe 5-7 years ago. The car has since traded hands numerous times. I have seen it for at about 3 seperate times.Originally posted by UNHCLLyou'll have to run the m5/m6 tranny I think.
major firewall modification will be necessary.
there is a silver/black 02 owned by a pilot in the mid-west with an S38.

Use the getrag 265 e30m3 tranny - it's has a removable bellhousing that will make the swap much easier. I used it on my m30 e30 swap and it's helped alot.Originally posted by trentThere is a long legend behind that car. The S38 was put into the 2002 by Korman, and the car was beautiful. M42 is by far the best bang for the buck -- Any 6 will upset the balance of the car severely. Pete ran a built M20 before the S14, but that was before there was such a thing as a hot setup for the '02 in terms of swaps outside of an M20 (the 'i' wasn't even out then!)
The S14 is the greatest setup, but a lot more money.. you can pick up running M42's for $700 or so, a decent S14 is $3500+
We've done roughly 45 or so S14/02s, but the M42 has been the most popular one for the last few years..
