    Hooking up a laptop

I have been looking with no luck. What kind of software and hardware do i need to hook up my laptop to my car. Idealy id like to be able to alter a/f and timing. I dont know if this is possible, id atleast like to be able to diagnose them if not change. (also monitor sensor readings and error codes) Is this possible? If so what do i need and where can i get it? thanks guys

Carsoft has provisions for it iirc, the problem is communicating with the ecu, you need to make the controller :(

i've definitely seen things like this for PDAs and laptops, but they were always expensive $200+, and for more modern cars

SMT-6 lets you hook up a laptop and use its software to tune the fuel curves. It's about $350 for the basic SMT-6 piggyback kit.

Question is, why do you need to tune this stuff? What do you have under the hood?

If you want to read your A/F levels, you should be buying a wideband O2 sensors with a digital readout gauge.

well, as of yet other than a custom ROM nothing special under the hood. However I do have plans for it. Im looking at gettin a MAP sensor instead of the AFM and i want to be able to hook my laptop up and adjust fule curvs...hmm can ya guess the plans?

200-350 expenicve???? Thats CHEAP... The motec system i was looking at was like $6500 lol
