I tried Ebay chip and it was awesome, best $35 i've spent on my E30, the intake helps sound but didn't do much, exhaust i never did other than cat-back delete mod. Definately does work but as with all manufacturer claims, its not that high. definately a good 10-12 wheel HP which for E30 325 is not bad at all for the price.
Awesome. So where can I see your dyno charts for this? No? How about at least a back to back comparison with reputable chips? Not that either?
it really is a shame we can't see gains like that from spending this kind of money. I can remember back in the dtm power days when all the guys with modded 2.5 m20's were dynoing their cars. I don't think anyone broke 150whp. It was really sad. exhaust claims 7 percent gain which is like 10 hp but it certainly isn't wheel hp, and your lucky if you get that much.
I want to dyno my car with the headwork I've done... I wasn't expecting much of a difference but the butt dyno saw a huge improvement above 4500rpm. I don't think 10-15hp is unrealistic, but who knows.

hehe silly little kids. go ahead spend $250 on the exact same chip, you obviously don't know how the chips work. those are all JimC or dinan or TMS copies, its the same exact chip. But if spending $250 some how makes you feel better and go to sleep better at night well then i guess its all worth it... isnt' it
IMO, the JC and MarkD chips are way overpriced, a tuning session costs $100-$150 at a dyno, chip burners are under $50 and the chip is around $5.
Yeah, they developed some type of program to make the chip with, but there's alot of programs like that people make for free.
Basically, one chip sale has paid for itself, if they brought them down to a reasonable $100-$125 shipped, considering the $5 a chip, those would still be huge profits, i'd happily buy one, but i'll buy an eBay copy until then.
If anyone has more info, send it my way, i asked him what chip he copied, but i doubt he'll actually tell me truth.
Ebay chip ($~35) + dyno ($~65) = $100 give or take?
Post up some results and enlighten us, or at least me. Because for the most part, these guys do have a point. If all these "ebay" chip sellers did is just copy a "designer" chip, then that's a helluva a steal. Or even if its their own concoction that still yeilds comparable results, it would be nice to know.
i bought one of the e-bay el cheapo chips. from a company called pro-formance. i will admit that there is a noticable difference but i doubt its more than like 5-10whp (they claim like 18-20whp). but hell for the price you cant beat it. i got no rough idle, no M.I.L (check engine light), and +500 rpm redline. i would recommend it!:)
