I would think the system is made taking every aspect into consideration and removing a part of that system would have unpredictable and undesireable results, but I could be wrong.

honestly though, the ABS shudder is a lot more pleasant than having your tires lockup and you drifting into a solid object.1988 325iC - "Betty" - Daily Driver/Project Car.

Can you guys hear it....
Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick on bmwannabe....
I hope you don't hurt yourself in the wreck!
Seriously, if you are engaging ABS on the street, and it is not a panic stop in the rain to save Nuns carrying babies across a crosswalk, you need to cool it down significantly! Go to a track and learn how this whole car thing (brakes, engine and suspension) are supposed to work together before you pull a safety feature out of the car. One tenth of one percent of the drivers on this planet can do a better job of threshold braking than ABS can give you.... and a good number of them are on the World Rally Circuit.
Just saying this because the next car you aim at could have someone I care about in it!
Sorry to sound harsh, but this is scary!

Word.
Just to give you an example, just yesterday i was getting off the bridge, and there's this change in road surface.. smooth concrete to bumpy asphalt. Well, the jackass in front of me hits the brakes for no reason, and i was a tad too close.. hit the brakes hard, in the rain mind you, and stopped pretty well. Not bad considering i have bald tires :)1988 325iC - "Betty" - Daily Driver/Project Car.

I had that happen to me the other day. My best guess i put too much pressure on the brake but either way the end result was me sliding into a telephone pole and in a ditch and i had plenty of braking room before and the car still would not stop because ABS had engaged. BTW it was wet ground and slight rainfall with good tires

Your mistake was stepping on the brakes too hard..
i forgot to mention that in my situation i did not apply enough pressure to engage the ABS.
What you really need to do is downshift, modulate the throttle to regain control and steer yourself to safety.
slight rainfall is the worst. Those were the conditions in which i crashed. The ground is like soap.1988 325iC - "Betty" - Daily Driver/Project Car.
