Re: Failed Calif SMOG
That is the least bit of helpful info re: this thread, waaay off topic. FWIW, I've lived in NorCal my entire life (34+ years).....and I don't plan on leaving anytime soon. Feel free to heed your own advice if you wish :finger:Originally posted by 1985bmw325eOriginally posted by Jon325iAny ideas on what I should look into first?
look into buying a ticket to fly to another state, and live there, cuz california just sucks with their emission laws. Too many fucking people live here

Just make sure you car is warmed up and then some, my car passed better than the 4 year old toyota that was in there. It was sitting in a parking lot for over an hour, I came in, got the test, passed with only 3% the smog allowed, and drove away happy.Comment

I'm chipped and also in California. There just happens to be a gas station that sells racing fuel close by. I put about 5 galons of that into an almost empty tank, drove around for a half hour, and passed smog no problem. The car had failed it's smog test a couple years prior.Originally posted by pig4billDon't you have a better chance of passing with 87 octane gas rather than premium?
So... Considering the racing fuel is like 98 octane, I'm guessing lower octane isn't going to help. ;)Comment

Re: .
Friends in the business own. My inspection w/a 3" full exhaust w/test pipe, etc. was 30 bucks.Originally posted by Victellask around, folks can hook that up for you. dont even need the car.
For the record, the car he put on the machine (just so I could have the papers JUST in case) was a stock '93 Eclipse GSX... apparently my car is the cleanest no-cat DSM this side of the Mississipi. :)
You'd never know it from the black exhaust tip, though.
