    trembling rear view mirror

my rear view mirror trembles like crazy...is there a metal shim thats supposed to be between the mirror base and the bracket it pops into?

During night driving it bothers me with light reflections trembling in the periphery...

This a regular rear view mirror.

I have the same problem...I pulled off the normal mirror from the bracket and pulled it right out of the rivets. One day I am going to remove the front headliner and some how bang it back in better so it's secure....check that out!! Remove the the check panel and see if the mirror arm wiggles.

btw, i deaded the heated seat retrofit. I am looking for cardinal m3 or vert seats w/ the heating element

no it comes off pretty easy. There are four screws holding on the sunvisors on each side and the headliner will drop down ...I would check behind the check panel before removing the headliner though

Buy a map light mirror. That way you won't have to deal with this.

My maplight mirror has an adjustment that can be used to eliminate "wobble". It's a rubber piece that fits against the windshield, simply turn the piece to tighten.

I noticed exact opposite, the basic mirror does not vibrate as much as the map light mirror. fwiw

yeah I 'upgraded' to the maplight and even with the thumb tab it wobbles a lot....I attached a nipple cover to the thumb tab from an old slave cyl. and that seems to secure it more.......Anyway, the OP doesn't have a maplight mirror

Did you figure it out rodrigo?

your mirror is probably broken somewhere where it mounts. my regular mirror was quite solid. to remove it, just pull it down and back, it should pop right out. then check to see if anything is loose..

To the OP, The mounting plate may have been knocked from the rivets

To everyone who may see this thread, DON'T pull on the mirror to remove it. The potential is there for you to rip the mounting plate off the car. There are pins in the spring of the mirror that recess to the either side, once one is recessed then the mirror comes right off...I wish I knew that when I installed my map mirror ;(

Mine wobbles, probably because my wheels are bent. However, it wobbled a lot less when I went form running on 5 cyls to all 6.

eh, it worked fine for me several times. I'm not sure how you'd rip the mounting plate off, it's steel welded to the body.

there are rimmed pins on the plates that fit into holes in the car...it's happens more often then none for people to rip them out when dealing with the mirror. Those pins in the actual arm of the mirror sometimes fuse or something and they wont recess, so all of the force when you're pulling will pull the plate right off the pins.....the pins from the plate are fine but the sides of the holes in the car get bent and it's a PITA to bang it back with a hammer
