Thanks. That explains why I didn't see it. I was looking for a switch lol anyone know which terminals need to be connected to make it think it's in drive? I don't want to order it if it's not the problem. I already replaced the cable, actuator and stalk for apparently no reason.

            Read above.
The fix may be as easy as unplugging the connector. The problem then will be that the cruise may work in Park and Neutral.

Disconnecting the connector kills the light that shows the gear selected. I disconnected the blue wire which is not connected to the light. I am going for a drive. Wish me luck.

The cruse control unit is in no way connected to the Gear Selector rod, there is a wire that goes to the Clocks, have you looked at that?

Looks like there is ground from switch in N or P. Otherwise, no ground. Note on diagram stated that for cars with Man. Trans., connector is taped back. This says to me that on the cars with automatic trannies the gound will activate if you just disconnect the connector for testing purposes.

Trust me there is nothing that connets to the Selector gear! on auto cars there is a shorting wire that goes over the clutch switch.
Look for that. And like i said the wire that goes to the clocks.

I appreciate the input and as you can see I'm at the point of reaching for straws.

Tell me more abut this blue wire. Were does it come from and why does a wire going to the clock have anything to do with the bloody CC ???
