an m42 without a chip is like sailboat without wind, it just isnt fun. the extra revs and throttle response are worth it alone...

I'm the guy in Apex, and it is an amazing difference...
It kicks butt. I do not have ready access to a dyno, but our CCA does have a g-Analyst that I plan to borrow in the spring. I can do some tests with that for comparison. I've recently developed a pretty nasty timing chain rattle that I've currently got the car down for, hoping to be back together in a week or so. Hmmm, did I overstress my motor with the new chip?Originally posted by MarkDSomeone else in Apex, NC has installed the chip last week but not driven it much because of the bad weather. He did say it was an amazing diffence over the chip he bought of ebay.Originally posted by royalflush313any updates?

I'll report back when we're operational again.

MarkD, what kinda price are you going to be able to give us R3V members? I'm sure we can get quite a few guys interested in this.

Put mine in on Monday and have logged about 150 miles on freeway and bumper to bumper traffic. The chip makes a huge difference. The car revs quicker and seems to have more pep in the middle range (2k to 4k) I would highly recommend getting a MarkD chip, I run 92 octane (Highest in Hawaii) and haven't noticed any adverse effects (knocking, etc...). I won't have any dyno sheet to post or anything but from a daily driving point of view, it's the best $200 or so dollars I've spent for my 318is.Comment

He got the 93. I didn't have a car here to test different octanes, but figured it may need 93 octane. I'm starting to think that 92 will work fine with it. I didn't advance the timing much in that chip as the motor already has a relatively high CR.Originally posted by nickmp0werdid u get the 93 octane chip or the 91?
