The dyno results may not be as impressive as the chip is in real life. The main reason is that it takes at least 100 miles of driving for the DME to adapt once the power is removed from it. It's best not to perforn a dyno run right after changing a chip.
I cant think of another way to have a truly back to back comparison though, I plan on doing a few 'drag runs' and maybe some top speed pulls on the dyno before I actually make the pulls with the new chip. Dynoing with the stock chip, then unhooking the car and driving around for a while isnt ideal in the interest of time

What about doing what I am planning on doing?
Test the MarkD chip first, as it would have already been adapted, then put the stock chip in?
You wouldn't have to have any down time.
Well, I might have to run it to redline up there, but not necessarily do a recorded "pull" to get the ECU to reduce the duty cycles of my 19lb injectors.
But unless I'm overlooking something, I don't see why you cannot run the modded chip first, then go to stock. I'm imagining the stock chip should behave as stock when the power is reset......?

True. I have to remove and recharge my battery every time I come back to my car ('89 325i) from school. The idle is rough every time for the first ~50 or so miles.

Get one of those solar powered trickle chargers. It sits on the dash and plugs into the lighter.
