    same engine right?

    i found a sweet deal on a low mileage engine, it's from a 1990 325ix..

    i own a 1987 325is, are the engines identical?

it's just a straight swap from one car to another right?
1990 IX to 1987 325is? computer in my IS will work and everything?

If you are just looking at the basic block then yet it will work. Pistons, crank etc are all of the same. Take everything that you can off your motor for the swap though.

NOTE : there is a diffrent oil system in the ix block and yoy may not be able to fir the ix oil pressure unit in a regular oil pan,,

yes, and it's also possible that the mounts are different, the ix subframe is completely different so I would assume they aren't the same either.

WOW thanks alot for the quick quantity of responses..

i knew about the oil pan, so grab the oil pan from my "IS" engine, and slap it on the IX engine...

and just make an attempt to swap as many parts from the "is" engine to the IX engien as possible, fuel rail, water pump, ect...

so oil pan, feul rail, water pump, that should be it, will the wiring harness from the IS engine work the same???

PS does the ix engine have any more/less horsepower then the "is" engine???

cool, so the wireing/computer and everything will hook straight into this engine with no probs.. (should anyway) anyway, i'm fixing to leave to go look at the engine, put downpayment down, and let them pull it for me, will pic it up tomorrow...

i'm leaving in 15 minutes, so if someone sees this.. is there anytihng esle i miht wanna pick up out of the 325ix while i'm therE???
