All the E30s I've heard with straight pipes have sounded great...as long as its a 6 cylinder. 4 cylinders sound horrible with too much exhaust noise...
Straight pipes are much too loud for a street car though. A decent hi flow cat/universal muffler will sound just as good, not wreck your ears, and wont break the bank.
ya, I got my 1 3/4" cat's off ebay brand new for $60 shipped each. Then had the muffler shop weld them in. After finishing he asked where I got them as they sell the same thing for $250 for a dual in dual out Cat. (I had them weld in a cat on each of the 2 pipes)
would it be ok to run without one? for the sake of a super cheap short term exhaust? I am trying to scrounge up some money to buy a e36, and dont want to drop a ton on this exhaust which I plan on replacing after the s50
I got a noise violation ticket for driving with just the headers-cat section of the exhaust. The cop said he was a block away and followed his ears. I was lugging it too, i just needed to get some new hangers. Sounded awesome WOT though :D
anyone know of a good high-flow/lightweight cat? mine is due for replacement, my downpipes are cracked before the O2 sensor and my exhaust sheilding is falling apart. going to have something custom made to fit up with my headers.
