    tachometer question

Where on an M20 does the tachometer read the revolutions? At the crank?

I have some wires that were cut by the previous owner and cannot tell what they are (this one is blue)*yet color never helps.

I believe that I am missing a sensor at the crank. I do have the crank positioning sensor, but at the mirror image of it, there is an empty holster.

at the crank, but the tach in your dash gets it's signal from the ECU

the other plug is for the impulse sensor, which is used to time the injector firing to the cam. Without it runs in regular alternating fire with no specific timing.
