    Oil pan leak

I hit a pretty nasty pot hole and there was a little bit of an elevated manhole ...

The engine light comes on and I pulled over, oil is pouring out of the oil pan in a steady stream.

I'll be replacing the oil pan, but is there anything that I should check on while I'm in there?

Is there anything else that could break in that process? I mean, are there any sending units, or is the oil pump attached to it?

The oil pump itself will be readily accessible once you have removed the pan. I don't know what kind of mileage your motor has, but if it doesn't seem too cost-prohibitive for you, go ahead and replace the oil pump since you will be able to change it with ease.

Can't think of much else to do/check other than replace the damaged pan and get a new gasket too. I hear that the gasket can be a pain to keep in place when re-installing the pan....it tends to slip away from its normal spot. Perhaps some adhesive to keep the gasket in one spot when putting it all back together.

yeah your right about the gasket it sucks iv done the pan deal like 3 or 4 times i recomend getting a skid plate cause if you do that a few more times your going to screw up your engine especialy if you wait for the light to tell you when to turn off your engine. i got a skid plate on my car 150$ for a custome made 3/8 thick steel shes indestructable!!!! its great anyways good luck.

Use a little rubber glue to keep the gasket in place while you put it up.
