    WTF, OBC monitor?

Alright, that's it-this thing is driving me nuts.
Since I got the car, the display had been spitting out erratic digits and shit.
Last week I read some comments that the problem was because of the wiring being loose. So I popped it out, disconnected, cleaned it, etc.., plugged it back in, and clicked that switch in the back down. So I set the time, and it was working well for a week. It still works, but every now and then, through out the day, it starts spitting random digits, and when I hit, it, it goes back. I took it out, and no matter how many times I take it out, and firmly reconnect the wire, it goes crazy again, and I have to hit it.

What's the problem? BTW, this is a 6-button, and I just need it for the basics, IE telling the time/temp...until I can afford to spend the extra $$$ on a real one.

Hmm. Sometimes mine goes into like Matrix mode but that's only if it gets really hot, like above thirty. Then I tap it lovingly and it works again...but yeah only in the heat do I have this issue.

They all do that, don't know what to do about it either. I just push the face in a little and it will fix itself.

so, the computer itself, is at fault? or my wiring in the back is faulty?

common 6 button issue. Mine only did it a few times over the last 8 years though.

but aren't there extra things needed to be done in order to make it work?

i got my with the entire wiring harness for 50, went from the 2 button clock to obc in about 15 minutes.. IIRC its 2 plugs, one into the cluster, and one to the door beeper. Also the turn stalk needs to be swapped if you want the quick select feature, not required though. I did it for mine, just means removing 2 more screws and another plug.

press turn signal stalk in "towards the wheel" and it changes between modes the OBC is on, pretty cool
