    weight reduction...

i know it's been covered 100 times, but... today i finally got rid of the back seat, trunk tar, antenna, put all the tools in an easily removable container, the total (with tools out) it added up to about 100 pounds. i had the opportunity to corner weight my car at work, and it was 51.4% front 48.6% rear before this weight reduction. so i guess my question is, how can i make the front lighter? i dont want to remove AC as i need it, what other options are there for weight removal on the front end of the car?

the motor itself can be very heavy.

The bumper internals can be heavy. No A/C is fuh raze, and should go with the roll bar nicely :D

      Tube frame the front end.
      Run ellipsoids.
The valence/bumper is heavy, find a ltw replacement.
      Lose the front subframe.

            - remove windshiled washer tank
            - CF hood
            - get ellips, and take out the hi-beams
            - no passenger seat (or replace w/lightweight seats), glove box, door panels
            - no fogs

            - lightweight wheels

The question is, why are you doing this? Are you planning on tracking the car? Really, unless you're headed for the track, who cares if you are a percent or two off from perfect? You'll never feel it. AND there are other ways to tune your suspension to achieve neutral handling. If, on the other hand, this is to be a race car, the AC needs to go, as does the power steering. There's probably a hundred pounds right there. Oh, and don't overlook the large weight in the driver's seat. Are YOU as light as you could healthfully be? :D

it is heading to the track, i know this isnt necesary, but it's something i want to do. Power steering definately doesnt have to go, AC would if it ever became not my DD. I am as light as i should be 160lbs. hood is on my "list" but it only shaves what like 20 pounds? as far as ellipsoids, i have smoked ellips, and im not taking out the highs or the fogs, i use those eveyday.

I don't see any point in making your car faster until you've done a number of driving schools. You'll screw up all the apex's in the beginning anyway, regardless of whether you've ripped out your AC.

For the record, I haven't done a driving school yet myself... but I did send in my registration for my first!!!
