I have a little faith in Dan that he wouldn't use the A/C during a performance driving event

pop off the euro grills and unplug the lights, then unbolt the ellips and remove them. then replace with us grills.

why not? (keep them around obviously to drive at night. but they are going to be taped up anyway.....)

Taping up your car is for little girls with expensive cars.

I have a better question, why?

You're doing driver's schools, not racing. That 8 pound weight drop will make NO difference in your car, and will have everyone laugh at you. Pulling the lights isn't legal in any autox class the e30 would be competitive in, and otherwise you just look ridiculous.

this whole thread is dumb. if your not even planning on removing your A/C, there is no need for this discussion.

Drop in a M42 and call it good. :P

or at least ditch the kopis for some K1s.

Or accept the fact that you're ultimately the weakest link in your whole set up and approach track days as a means of improving your driving ability.

the driver is completely removing the thing that could be one-tenth the value of the car and it'll be protected/safe.

It'd also "delete" the high beam easier than removing a single one.

and if people are talking about removing the hood latch system....8 pounds is even more than that. And 8 pounds could be the difference between race shells and sport seats with adj. backs.

A side note to the idea of using 1 piece racing shells to save weight:

To use them safely, you need:

                                Roll Bar +60lbs
