Prestone and distilled water because it's phosphate free and contains gly-..whatever that chemical was called. That's all my Bentley called for, so why the hell pay $6-8 more and drive 20 mins furhter (in my case) for something else that does the same shit?

hrm...water? its almost free, water is the main cooling additive, it doesn't kill the environment wen i dump it on the street, and in LA it doesn't drop below freezing.

      if i run coolant/antifreeze its usually 30% or less. wal-mart special, non-premix.

"blue" is supposed to be for BMW engines since it is "phosphate free" and doesn't corrode my cyl head. whatever.

I always run BMW coolant, no joke.

I've seen inside motors run on water, not pretty.

PS: For those who think BMW coolant is too expensive... It's not like you change this shit at every oil change! Pony up the extra few bucks and be good for a couple years. (Or however often you flush coolant).

yeah full of oxide hehe, thats why on street cars we put a bit coolant in there to stop the rust from forming.

I used BMW coolant on the x3. Damage is already done on th e30, maybe when I do the M30 swap, I'll switch to BMW.
It sure was pretty to see that clean blue coolant when I did the water pump/thermostat last week.

I think they just wanted to be different, we had a car come in the shop and saw blue dripping and thought it was washer fluid, wrong water pump was leaking! We were like huh...

The price delta is too small to worry about. I use it.

I don't bother with it, no benefit over other more readily available options.

Do you use BMW oil too?
