What's the best short shift kit to use?

So i've been waiting for UUC to deliver my damn short shift kit for bout 5 months now... do i keep waiting and keep calling and emailing... or do i go with something else? Anyone got some advice from experience of good or bad short shifts?

    Thanks

I like this one too but it's notchy as hell.
Once you try like a UUC or brand name shifter, you will hate the z3 :x

          I thought the z3 1.9 wasn't notchy, and the 3.0 one was?

          *I don't have either yet...

1.9 last I researched isn't supposed to be notchy, it's supposed the be perfect... Oh, and I got to drive a UUC kit'd car.... It was honestly going to be more fun getting punched in the face with brass knuckles than daily, or even tracking that car....

Z4 2.5 here. No notchiness, very smooth, just not as short as others.

How much and was any mode needed to use it? I've also found that I need specific parts since mine is an '84. Seems like '86 to '91 has more options.

Having tried a uuc, z3 1.9, and b&m, so far the b&m has been by far my favorite. The z3 1.9 is a great budget shifter but it is still a tad on the notcy side compared to the surgicaly smooth b&m.

I use the z3 1.9 and I love it. I don't know what people mean by notchy, does that mean there's a lot of clicks and metallic-sounding noises as you shift? I don't experience any of that. It makes no noise and it's very nice. I also had all the other shifter parts replaced at the same time with AKG delrin bushings.

notchy means its not butter smooth from one gear to another. you have to give it more effort to pull it out of one "notch" to put it into the next "notch."

the pinnacle of a non-notchy shifter is a 2005 manual corolla or a 2005 manual subaru outback.

I like a bit of notchiness so I can tell whereabouts the shifter is in terms of in/out of one gear on the way to the next. That being said, what shifter will give a very healthy reduction in height, healthy reduction in throw, and notchiness equal to stock or a bit more? Z4 3.0 is sounding pretty good, any mods necessary to work on an 89?
