    Water in engine bay

Yesterday there was a light rain at my place, and my new-to-me 89 325is had some standing water on the flat area in the engine bay behind the passenger strut tower. is this a normal thing?

    rust through the fender?

do you have the gasket under the hood?

that area should stay dry. I have my wideband controller and coils mounted there, if it got wet - well that would be bad.

gasket is under the hood. pass fender has been replaced by PO. I dont see any rust through on it. I'm guessing by your response that this is not a normal thing.

I mean the inner fender. the underside of that flat area is exposed to the tire.

I havnt looked there. is their suppose to be a black plastic guard or something down there? If so, I'm missing mine due to crappy repair from PO.

          here's pics of the repair

to the left of the strut is where the water was standing at. also, I do know I am missing a strut bolt.

i've seen water there before. not uncommon.

you really should get the strut fixed.
