    Just broke motor mounts

Well broke my motor mounts and in turn cut my radiator hose yay!!!. Well talked to my dad and said he had broken several mounts in that car...I wonder if instead of putting the same mounts in if heavy duty mounts might be better? What do you guys think and any recommendation on the mounts?

How do you keep breaking mounts? You can go poly or even solid if you don't mind the vibration..but if you are driving the car hard enough to break mounts all the time, I would adjust my driving habits first, before you start causing more things to break.

the same thing happend to me just like a week a go.. I decided to go with AKG 75D?(55 +shipping that is what people reccomended or i would go with silence's motor mounts .(45 includeing shipping) or 70 for motor and tranny.

in my view not that it matters to people but.. anything is better then the stock rubber mounts

I would agree if only i had broken the mounts before..But my dad who barely drove it hard broke 3 mounts himself...also not a stock motor

ive been running stock motor mounts and i daily 320ft/lbs...i don't understand how you can keep breaking motor mounts?

          bad brand of motor mounts?

          trans mounts in bad shape?

when was the last time you replaced them?

(not likely) engine rotating assy. out of balance? fly out of balance?

It sucks that you are breaking mounts but as ken blocke said you may want to reconsider your driving style. If you clutch kick, flat-shift, or drop the clutch a lot then you should get something more robust, but I have installed harder mounts, even solid steel engine mounts in cars before and I hated the vibrations and harshness they brought with them. In any case smoother driving is faster (in the curves, not particularly in a drag race) safer, and easier on the car. I am not trying to accuse you of sucking at driving, mechanic work, or life, but could it be possible that they are being installed improperly such as tightening the mounts before you get the full weight of the engine back on the mount or tightening them when the engine and transmission or doing anything that would pre-load and stress the mounts when the car is parked? Any oil/fluid leaks that may be effecting them? If you do end up getting something stiffer, give us a review and let us know how you like them.

My dad installed the previous mounts and so yes they were installed correctly by him he has been a mechanic for over 38 years...This will be my first time doing them. He just told me he had broken 2-3...But it was always the right side and he would notice it before the left side broke and caused the damage i caused. Yeah i agree i am not the best driver but i just cant see it being me...But maybe it is :D... Also its not like they are being broken back to back. The car has been his for 15 years or so and then came to me about 5-6 months ago.

The right side motor mount is almost always the first to go. That is partly as a result of forces applied to the mount an dpartly as a result of its proximity to the exhaust. If the heat shield is missing the mount will have an even shorter life.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

in all seriousness, i've never broken a engine mount, and i clutch kick all the time.

I kinda got lucky i guess. It was about a mile from my house when temps started to climb...i pulled over and let her cool off for about 30 mins then basically coasted half way back with the motor off and never let it get back into the red..So i am hoping no damage was done other then the radiator hose and motor mounts.

Well they where guaranteed to be here by 12 today and they are a no show. So at least i get my shipping back lol...

It's pretty damn easy to install motor mounts on these cars. Don't be a dummy.
