Did E30's come with speed governors? My car has one, 206 kph according to speedo. Two weeks ago I could go faster, but it was after a fresh ECU reset. WTF is going on?

ya isnt the top speed 183 km/h i hit that an my car wouldnt go any faster. would but a chip increase top speed??? what model is ur car?Comment

87 325i. I was only going that fast because there were 3 or 4 cars going together in a chain last night at 4 am. No body else on the road. It's really annoying, I had another 1200 rpms left to go, and it just cut power.Comment

what chip company said it removed the speed limiter? there isn't a speed limiter, Nando is right. Obviously there is a rev limiter, and the chip doesn't remove that either, it just changes the limit.

the chip should give you more power, so of course you would be able to go slightly faster. don't forget to take into account things like windspeed and direction, the road you are on (hills and whatnot), etc.
I have a chip in my car and the top speed is exactly the same. it just doesn't have enough power to go any faster, unless I were to drive at 125+ for 5-10 miles. then I might break 128mph...Comment

It's definately a speed governor. It kicks in at the exact same speed going uphill, downhill, or on flat. It's still pulling and I can feel it "lift" and it sounds like hitting the rev limiter, bounces up and down. It feels the same as an E46.Comment

it was a 40$ ebay chip:) and i know it doesnt eliminate the rev limiter i didn't say it did.

E30s can't go 155mph. there is no governor, you can argue until your face is blue but it's not going to be true. also, the fact that you bought your chip on ebay pretty much proves my point..Comment
