Shut the fuck up, you just know you are wrong.

There are no governers other than lack of power to overcome the shitty aerodynamics.

But there is a governor. It's very distinct. It's not like running out of power, it's like hitting the rev limiter.

      Keep it slideways!!

[quote="Axxe"]87 325i. I was only going that fast because there were 3 or 4 cars going together in a chain last night at 4 am. No body else on the road. quote]

Oh good, that's *much* better... you had me worried

So let me get this right:
1)You're most likely overdriving your lights
          2) If something happens to someone in front it'll take the whole bunch of you out.
          3) Animals never run out on the road, tires never fail, 15 year old cars are the most reliable things on earth. You're right, it's completely safe,
          4) Potholes don't exist (especially during the thaw)
          5) It's still pretty cold this time of year, ice is not a possibility...
          6) A public roadway is far from being a completely predicatable and safe environment...
          7) If you should pass someone at that speed, the speed differential is huge. It can spook less confident drivers into doing strange and unpredictable things.
(Ever hit a parked car at 100 kmh...
that's what it would be like)
8 ) It's just a matter of time before you become a statistic.

I'm saying this for your own good, your actions could have some pretty serious consequences. Please remember that you are on a public roadway and there are others around you. I love to drive fast, but there is a time and a place for it.

Take it to the track for your own good and those around you.

My problem is you guys that are just arguing for the sense of arguing, and have no idea what you are talking about.

how do you figure i dont know what im talking about, and yes i enjoy arguing its fun, and you dont need to get all pissed off about it cause theres really no point in getting mad cause theres nothing you can do about over the internet except type insults... which is kind of humorous to read for me anyways.

I know some guys who swear their cars have governors, and I'd take Axxe's conclusion as valid, he's a smart guy.

That said, my 12/89 build 173-ECU car has no such governor, and many swear the same with their cars. FWIW, all factory literature does suggest a 206km/h programmed limiter, but very few have actually felt it.

Thanks for the backup Jay. It's weird that in the fall I was doing quite a bit past the limiter, but it was maybe 45 mins after unhooking and hooking up my battery (reset an amp).

I'll settle this issue after exams, I'll simply jack up the rear of the car, remove the wheels, and see how fast it'll spin. No air resistance. Don't worry, it will be properlly supported by jack stands with no children or pets around.

I'm sorry but you're an accident waiting to happen... Don't bother messing around with your car trying to prove a point. We are not your mother but please slow down and use what common sense you have. The speed limit is there for a reason and doing stupid stunts like jacking up your car to see how fast the wheels will turn is just about the most stupid thing I've heard. I'll assume you're quite young and have some growing up to do... I don't really care if you hurt yourself but if my family was hurt or killed by some punk kid I'll throw him/her into a wood chipper feet first.

Damn. It's a shame sarcasm can't be properly conveyed with a keyboard. Speed limits are there so cops can make easy cash off of people travelling at a normal pace. BTW, if you are going less than 130 kph on the 401, trucks will run you over. Accident waiting to happen? Maybe, but accidents are always waiting to happen. They happen to the most cautious drivers as well. Speed doesn't kill, breaking the laws of physics does.

Is it automatic? If you go WOT, the tranny wont shift to 4th gear. It'll stay on 3rd until 115mph. Then you have to let go a bit of the throttle until it shifts to 4th, so you can slowly accelerate to the top of 4th, but it's basically pointless.... it's over at 115mph.

In a 5spd I dunno, I came to 120mph with no problems. Never took it to the alledged 128mph limiter.
