Hello gentlemen. I am now the proud owner of a getreg 260 and am curious about refreshing the old girl a bit. Beyond replacing font and rear seal and short of a full rebuild, what would be a good idea to look at.

witht the price of E36 M3 gear box's so cheap and the lack of availability of 260 parts (on the cheap) if I had to do it over again I would have done the E36 swap and dealt with the crooked shifter and saved a ton of money. Granted I did have my 260 done by Blanton who is twice as expensive as anyone else, but wow it is silk now.Brian Jacobs

Just replace all shifter parts, as long as there isn't something seriously wrong inside the box you'll be fine. If there is it pays to get a different one rather than fix yours, or spend $600 for a rebuild from the guy that got mentioned a couple posts up.
Front seal, rear seal, shifter rod seal*not mentioned but you should do*.
Then new shift rod, front knuckle thing, some yellow washers, and a shift lever to taste (z3, Mcoupe, z4, e36 m3 , whatever floats your boat)

Not to threadjack, but does anyone know where to buy (other than the dealer) the tube that the throwout bearing rides on? My tranny's out of the car, and I noticed that part has some noticeable wear. Pelican recommends changing it in the write-up on their site, but they don't seem to sell them.Jason
