Switched to 5-30 Mobil 1

They aren't aweful noisy or anything, just noisier than they were (seems they are pretty noisy by default)

Is this normal? I was running Castrol 5-40 before but I called BMWNA and they said use this.

You live in Mexico and you're running 5w30 in the Summer in an M20? That's pretty damn thin. I generally use 5w30 in the Winter. You should probably be using a 10w40 during the Summer down there.

Like I said I called BMW, they said run Mobil 1 5-40 the dealer here sells Castrol synthetic 5-40 for 120 freaking pesos! (10.81 at the current exchange) I thought the 5.50 a gallon I paid was steep!

53K!? You're probably fine with the 5w30... but I'd put some 5w40 in it just because of the heat.
