How do YOU do motor mounts?

I do them with a floor jack and removing/loosening the engine cross member. I have to do them again. I switching out my urethane ones. Sick of the vibe. Any better way? I don't have room to lift the engine high enough to pull them out.

You can support the engine with a jack and then drop the front subframe. Getting the steering knuckle back on can be a pain though.

I dont think I took the subframe completely out. I put the IE ones in Aug '09. Greg (m-technik-3) has a bar that sits across the top of the engine that is made to hold up the engine so you can remove K members and stuff. I was thinking about grabbing that.

I just lift the engine with an engine brace.

put a plank of wood under the area where the block and trans mate, then jack up from there and put jack stands under the trans case

Unbolt mounts, jack up oil pan (with a board so it doesn't fail), put in new mounts, lower jack, tighten mount bolts.

Grab a shovel.

I don't have that much room to lift the motor. See original post.

There motor is very tall and crushes the wire box just above the engine if I try to lift up the motor.

$30 drive up ramps from pretty much any auto store should give you all the room underneath you need, or, grab your jack and jackstands
Now that I think about it, I've had 2 new engine mounts sitting in my trunk for the past 8 months. I should get around to putting those in.
