What can I replace while my tranny is out?

I just recently took my tranny out to replace the rear crankshaft seal. While its out what should I get to save myself trouble later on? I was thinking about getting poly mounts to put in. Maybe lighten my flywheel? What do you think?
    Thanks :)

Some things to check while you're down there are:

      Flex disc
      Center support bearing
      Tranny mounts

Might as well replace your reverse light switch ($10), you don't want that shorting any time soon and have to pull the tranny out again.

Who needs a reverse light anyway. Put the 10 towards stiffer trans mounts.

              Evidently, I don't.

Replace the engine's rear main seal while you've got access to it...

How much would it cost to have somebody disassemble the tranny and replace all of the synchros I'm sick of that shitty notchy feeling from first too second and third. I'll hate it even more when I have a light flywheel and ssk.

I've been down this path before. It was when a clutch replacement was needed. Here's what I did while everything was torn apart....

                    new clutch kit (obviously)
                    throw-out bearing
                    lightened flywheel
                    UUC short shift kit
                    new tranny mounts
                    new guibo
                    new reverse light switch
starter (it was on its way out anyway)

The only thing I didn't replace was the rear main seal on the engine. If I had thought about it ahead of time, I would've taken care of this as well. I know my list may seem a bit much, but with the tranny out its a good time to address various things since its all readily accessable.

Of course if you like to pull the tranny every weekend, do each item separately :P

so the IE mounts make a noticable difference? also if i went the lightened flywheel route, would i have mine resurfaced/lightened? or replace with a whole new unit?

I was also wondering if there were any specs on how thick a new oem clutch disc is. My clutch works fine but how do I know if I should replace it or not, since I have it out now

In case anybody actually wanted to know what the minimum thickness of their clutch disc is, according to Alldata:

"Minimum lining thickness of clutch disc: Lining surface up to rivet closing head - 1.0mm"

I dunno y, I actually like doing the transmission, the bmw was a pain in the ass but I like doing it on my pickup, I've done it 4 times so far, no worries, I enjoy tearing stuff apart I guess
