    Same issue here, 1st gear is practically useless. Im hitting 5k RPM's at 90mph on 5th gear, haha...but boy that engines sounds so nice! I got a 3.46 lsd sitting at home that will probably get installed soon.

    IIRC they came in some late E28 528e (1988/Super ETA only) and late E23 735i's (85-87). As Greg said also the E24s, but I think it was just the '88-89 Automatics.

    Some E28s came with the 3.46.

    They require no modification, except to swap your E30 rear cover and output flange to the diff. The output flanges are easy to remove and reinstall. Use a prybar to pull it out, then push the E30 output flange back in until it clicks.

    e28s was it? Do they need modification to mount in an e30? My S50 swap car is currently running a 3.73 LSD. I don't like the high rpms at highway speeds, I have to do a lot of quick 3-4-3 shifts at Sebring, and I'm on the rev limiter a lot at autoxes. So, I'm hunting for a 3.46. Help me find one.
