Can someone recommend where to go to find a 4.10 LSD for my '88 325is, and how much I should pay?

Also, if and when I install it, is there a market for my low mileage (125,000) 3.73 LSD?

wow... it took me like 5 min.

i got the 91 chip, just because some places don't have 93 when i go on road trips.

I keep the stock chip in the ashtray. If it really takes you 5 minutes, then I don't see why the 93 chip would have been a problem.

im talking 5 min once i got the ECU out.

Meh, the entire process takes me less than 5 now. ;)

It probably works well because chances are it uses code from a "real" chip. Most of those guys buy a "real" chip and a chip burner, rip the code and they are in business. So you probably ended up with a JC or Dinan or some other legit manufacturer's chip code. I guess that is the only real issue I would have, is you don't know what you have. Luckily it worked out for you.

After doing the research on chips, I knew exactly what I wanted. It is pretty easy to find very high praise for MarkD's chips in this forum.

I am new to these forums but i would like to chime in. I purchased one of these "generic" chips off ebay and was skeptical at first but i figured what the heck its only $35. i tried it and I am very impressed. I have no basis for comparison to other chips but it seems to be working well.

wow... it took me like 5 min.

1. pull battery cable

2. remove two phillips screws and 2 plastic screws from glove box cover

3. remove four 10mm bolts

4. remove connector

5. straighten metal tabs

6. remove four small screws from ECU cover and remove cover

7. remove plastic chip cover

8. remove chip

9. install new chip and re-assemble

Five minutes? Maybe twenty minutes, at least for me. I was trying to be real careful and the pelican info did not mention the four small screws on the top, so I was trying to figure out which of the remaining screws were holding the cover on. I am very happy with the improvement and there has been no pinging with the 92 octane.
