Can I replace heater core gaskets with weatherstripping?

I'm replacing the dash and was wondering if it's no big deal to replace the heater core gasket with regular foam weatherstripping from the Home Depot or should I buy the $35 special order part that takes 2 weeks to get here?

    a) honestly - i don't see why it wouldn't work. Just the time it would take to trim/fit/adhere

    and

    b) two weeks? really? Have you tried contacting Blunttech?

When it's said and done, I'm the type of guy that would rather use factory parts when possible - but I can see where you're coming from though too..

If it works, use the weather stripping from home depot. Hopefully you won't do this job again for a long long time anyway.

I would so you could for sure.. I just replaced mine with an OEM heater core with stripping. The home depot strips look like they are way better in quality.

See if you can get urethane foam weatherstripping, it works great. Seemed like double the airflow, but I am sure that was a placebo.
