    Belts squeeking

My belts squeek (probably the v-belt) early in the morning before the car is warmed up. After its warmed up it stops. It's a wretched squeek, that gets louder up till 2k RPM's then goes away till the revs go below 2k again. I've tried belt dressing and it didn't help. The belts are brand new. Does this sound like I made them too tight, or too loose?

Go a smidge tighter; see if that helps...Also, if it's your alternator belt make sure your alternator bushings are in good shape. They could be letting it move around a little.

Sometimes pulleys can develop a glaze over time that makes it harder for them to grip the belts. You may want to try taking some 100-150 grit sandpaper to the inside grooves of the pulley to help them grip the belts better. I've also heard that rubbing the belt with a bar of soap works to but I've never tried it before.

could be stripped out tensioner nuts.. they are pretty soft and are destroyed easily. take them off and inspect them.

mine used to squeak exactly like you describe (all new belts), but I always knew the tensioner nut for the alternator was stripped. once I replaced it the squeak went away.
