^ This. There is a difference between early and late (I don't know the cut off years) fuel gauges late=2 senders, early = 1 sender.
I would check that first to make sure they are compatible.
The early gauge is used with 325's that have the 55L tank and I think all 318's. The cutoff date for the gauge in a 325 is 8/87, same as the tank.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

You can calculate without worrying about cluster.. Jus drive until it's completely empty - you wanna have a 5 gallon of gas in the trunk, add the five and drive to the nearest gas station, top it up and see how many gallon + the 5, the drive until empty again for the total miles.

I can't get about 7.2l/100km that was calculated using my odometer and how much fuel I filled up at the gas station so thoretically I should be able to get about 750km from one tank.

my eta gets about 280-320 until the light comes on. Dont have the balls to run it till it quits. Average fill up after that mileage is 11.9-12.9 gallons

330-350 with my M42/3.73, I generally put around 12 gallons in it. I've gone 380-400, but the light came on at that point, and it took something like 13.5 gallons. Mixed city/hwy.

318is, about 310-320 miles per tank, 87 octane. Mostly freeway driving @ 80. When not on freeway I mash it pretty consistently. I go WOT every day I drive it.
