Wait, so the E30 M42 intake mani is more performance oriented? Should I or can I use it on my gf's e36 M42? I think it comes with the motor I'm trying to get...Originally posted by cgregoryDowning Atlanta also makes some for the E36 M42s. They actually sell many different kits, because minute changes were made quite often (brackets and things changed almost every MY). There's a big FAQ on their website.Originally posted by fabianyeeThe early model E36M42 still using similar belt configuration as found in the E30M42 (3 belts).. only the later E36M42 used 2 belts which is similar to the M44.... the Downing Atlanta SuperCharger is made for the M44 which is using the 2-belt system..
Another difference between the E30 and E36 M42s is in the intake manifolds...supposedly the E30 intake is optimised for performance while the E36 for fuel efficiency or something like that. They're interchangeable though; I'm running the E30 intake.
As for running without sensors...I don't think I'd want to risk it. 10:1 CR + 7.5psi doesn't seem like a good combo for 93 octane with 'em. I'm going to keep looking for an ECU and a wiring harness. It seems like it could get to be kind of a PITA though :|
And btw - maybe you should hook me up with that DASC for my E36 m42 ;) Since it's easier to put it on mine and all... lolComment

Oh come on, it's going to be slow anyways, who cares what manifold you use ;)Originally posted by Beemerfanatik
