    parallel condenser

Where can I buy a direct fit parallel condenser for e30?

    #2
    part number 634640
I bought it from ackits. I called there and talked to Rob and he verified that it would be PF. It cost me $173 shipped. There is a long thread on e30tech, you may have seen it there.

Clydesdale, how is it $173 shipped? I just checked the site and it said $203.20 for the part alone. I would be on this if it's indeed $173 shipped.

screw ackits!! There should be a company out there selling them for 100 bucks or close to it.

It was 173 shipped last year, around October. I know it is more than I wanted to spend. But I called all over, including Vista Pro directly and I could not find anyone except Rob at ackits, who could GUARANTEE they would ship me a PF condenser. Everyone else was saying they THINK I will get PF, but I could get a serp.

Not trying to thread jack, but...

Considering I live in ridiculously hot weather, would you say it's better or the same performance after putting the PF in? I am seriously contemplating this. I have converted my whole system to R-134 and I have replaced my compressor, expansion valve, drier, flushed out all my lines, cleaned my evaporator, and it's not as cool as I would like it on a 90+ degree day. I personally think a lot of it has to do with how the heat barely disperses from the old tube and fin design (and obviously how R-134 doesn't work insanely well with this type of condenser either).

I have checked other E30 forums and Googled this shit out of this, but I have yet to see if anyone has seen a noticeable difference from the replacement. I know that a PF is much better than the tube and fin design, but I'm the kind of person that would like my answers to be verified. lol Let us in on the info!

I take it you have had a bad experience with them? I agree that over $200 is pushing it, but give us some insight on what you had to deal with.

Well all I can tell you is that at around town speeds, about 45 mph, I am getting 41 degree duct temp. The idle duct temps are not as impressive.

If it's 41F at a decent driving speed, I'd have to say that's at least somewhat of an upgrade. Looks like I'll be doing this in the near future.

Yep, dead balls 41 degrees at around town speeds. It was a test drive and if I wasn't testing I would have lowered the a/c. I think I can now finally reinstall my center console and glove box. I had my complete system apart for the past 15 months. This was my first experience with a/c and of course it couldn't be a simple fix.

what was the temp outside when you tested?

                          ^^^^^What immajackuup said.

If it was in the 80's or 90's as far as ambient temps go, I'm going to order a condenser tomorrow. No joke. Plus I have a kid on the way and would like to have some cold a/c, especially with the grueling summers in SW FL.

Good news redsubdivisions,my ac is blowing cold in the 100 temp heat even at idling. Think my spal 16inch pusher fan and clutch fan are working very well together.

Now i nee to tint my windows to make sure the cold stay in the cabin.

Baller! I'm going to order this bastard tonight. Thanks for the input! Did you get it from RockAuto or somewhere else? I noticed you said something about basically telling ACkits to pound sand, so I doubt it you got it from there. RockAuto has one that is a serpentine style, but if it's only 2 or 3 degree difference from the PF, then I'll get that one.
