how much of the rear firewall can safely be removed...

    how structural is it...

pic of said item (not my car)

i want to trim away some of it for subwoof enclosure reasons...

i was thinking maybe trimming away an opening a few inches wide on either side of the two vertical "bars" in the middle and maybe welding in some expanded metal to keep some of the rigity of it... or maybe welding in some bracing from the back...

thoughts or experience with this would be helpful.. thanks in advance... and this is just me brainstorming...

if you weld in some bracing of some sort (square tubing?) I think you'd be fine.

the panel in the center there is for a ski bag, you can punch that out without affecting its structural integrity.

You can probably cut most of it out and not notice a thing.
