AC not cooling enough.. What needs replaced???

I have an 87 cabbie with the m20. Problem is my AC works fine and is charged and holds as well, but its not as cold as i think it should be.. Maybe the compressor needs to be chaged or maybe something else. Any thoughts please??? Thanks guys..

Clean all the fins on your condenser.

Does it blow really cold on the freeway?

From my understanding, if you put r134 into an r12 system it will never be as cold as it was originally. If it blows colder on the freeway I would also look at the fan clutch.

No it blows the same even at highway speeds and yes the refr. level is good. Yes its converted to 134a. Now my girls e34 wagon has 134a and that thing blows real cold. I just maybe thought it might be something else..

Do what KenC said and clean your condensor off, make sure nothing is blocking airflow to it.

Yeah those buttons in the center console seem to fix it for me too

USUALLY the r134a conversion doesnt work so well because people dont fully convert the system or cut corners. however, i've been in a few e30s that ran r134a and were ice cold. however, they overhauled the entire ac system.

Your right. I didn't on my car. Just changed the fittings. It usually blows about 50ish degrees instead of 30ish. And when it's 100 outside, 50 usually suffices. :) My fan clutch is weak though and it doesn't work as well in stop and go traffic.

Before anyone can give you good information you'll need to locate/attach a set of gauges and tell us what they read while the system is running. Cabin and ambient temperatures would help as well.
