Why? Intakes do nothing but maybe change the sound of the engine slightly. The stock intake box with a good filter insert works as good if not better then a cone filter. Spend your money elsewhere.
I will guarantee colder air with my intake if you set the duct up properly. Colder air=More power no matter how negligible, it will still benefit performance....and you get the cool sounds associated with intakes.
I like how everyone realizes that Hot air intakes decrease performance, but no one seems to think cold air will help...
^^^^ totally agree, cold air does wonders, but it you go cold air, please make sure you help the car breathe better by allowing some freeflow out the exhaust... just a thought..
factory air box for factory car.
yeah it works, but we dont modify our cars because they work. yeah stock suspension works, but drop springs LOOK way better.
Factory airbox is a cold air intake.
Just get a nice filter and you will be miles ahead of a home-brewed "cold air" cone-filter setup.

When it was allowed by the rules the Spec E30 community tried lots of things in the quest for power. None that I know of ever exceeded the performance of the stock air box.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

The thing that the stock airbox has that most cone kits take out is a velocity stack for the AFM. I made my own velocity stack with some math and a piping. I then got all my power back but then the engine warmed up and I lost it all again because of the open element. Then I made a heat shield.

So what you are saying is, you went through a bunch of trouble replicating the result the stock airbox provides.
Its a fucking air intake. Slap an after-market one on there or keep the original with a "performance" filter. Either way the gains/losses are hardly noticable.
